The story of buggyboot® is very genuine. It has been driven by the experience of motherhood and the frustration of being with young children, in store, when buggies tip over.
It has also been driven by the desire to make it perfect for customers: quite sincerely, to be safe, robust, great value and very useable.
Buggyboot Ltd was established in January 2006 and has two directors; Charlotte Evans and Carolyn Jarvis, inventors of the buggyboot®. Both are mothers themselves who recognised the need for a product to make being on the move with young children in pushchairs safer and more convenient. Professionally they also had relevant experience - Charlotte as an independent market researcher and nurse, and Carolyn as a trainer in childcare.
Initial advice was sought from Business Link and Kingston University, to determine how to take the product idea forward. Local designers (Design Works, Windsor) were employed to develop the product to prototype stage. Funding was raised following a business plan presented to SEEDA (South East England Development Agency) and significant advice has also been sought through relationships with FEW (Funding Entrepreneurial Women) and other Finance South East initiatives.
Charlotte and Carolyn are personally overseeing product manufacture in the Far East, seeking advice from an experienced manufacturer in the nursery trade.
The buggyboot® itself has won several awards, and Charlotte and Carolyn were both nominated as British Female Inventor & Innovator of the Year for buggyboot® in 2008.
Buggyboot Ltd is registered in England no. 5665304.
