August 2008 - buggyboot® creators Charlotte Evans and Carolyn Jarvis appeared in episode four of the sixth series of Dragons' Den, broadcast on 11 August 2008 on BBC2 in the UK. The show was recorded in April 2008.
The show invites entrepreneurs to pitch for investment in the Den from the 'Dragons', five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.
Charlotte and Carolyn made a spirited presentation, which they describe as being one of the most challenging and nerve-wracking pitches they've ever given.
After demonstrating the product and explaining the business, Charlotte and Carolyn secured the full amount of funding they sought and the support of a Dragon - Deborah Meaden.
Deborah commented: "Carolyn and Charlotte both presented extremely well and had clearly already achieved a huge amount before entering the Den. They had designed, developed and produced a product which they could demonstrate demand for, with orders already secured and letters of intent for substantial quantities. Their market intelligence was good, not just in terms of the size of the market but also in relation to the competition. They knew how many competing products were sold through which retailers and were able to explain why their product was in a strong position to compete in terms of functionality, design and price. Good market knowledge, a fully developed product AND orders...to be honest I was surprised that mine was the only offer!"
